Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
Tabitha cares for orphans in many ways.
At the Hope center on Doull road in Pietermaritzburg, rescued infants are brought into the Tabitha system. Here they are cared for under the watchful eye of Issy, Jean and the rest of the staff. The Tabitha school, Christian Life Academy, is also on the grounds. The school uses a home-school curriculum administered by teachers to educate the children. Currently, there are almost 40 infants through 10 yr olds housed here.
Child Headed Households
Tabitha also manages over 500 households with no adults. For example, the house on the left at one time housed 14 children, with the oldest 13 years old. All the adult care-givers had died. Tabitha provides food, health-care and even school uniforms to enable children to stay together and continue in school.
